Dr. Robert Barnes

Dr. Robert Barnes is a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician who focuses on Primary Care.
Having grown up in Coldwater, MS, he is familiar with Batesville and the surrounding communities. He attended Northwest MS Community College for his Associate of Arts degree in 2012 and Delta State for his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2014. He attained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS where he graduated among the top 15% in his class of roughly 150 students.
Dr. Barnes underwent residency training for Internal Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. During his residency, he had the privilege of working at several different hospitals and hospital affiliated outpatient facilities in the Memphis area including the Veterans Affairs Hospital, Regional One Health (“The Med”), Methodist University Hospital, Baptist Memorial Hospital, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Dr. Barnes routinely sees patients with conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and chronic lung disease. He has a special interest in geriatric medicine and mental health as well. He believes that primary care should be patient-centered and strives to develop strong connections with his patients so that, together, they can make the best healthcare decisions that suit their individual needs.
